Welcome to another episode of TLAV Political Roundtable. In this show we break down the week of American politics, and discuss its implication on American life, and the world. Today we are discussing the direction of the Trump Presidency--the alarming and positive choices that are being made--as well as the continuation of the drone program and what that could mean, and Trump's many executive orders and laws that could lead to the illegalization of protests in the US.

Following the official inauguration of President Donald Trump, that which many thought would never come to pass, there has been no shortage of the all too expected violent protests and hyperbolic demands; but we must ask ourselves, at what point do these protests turn into riots? And at what point was a peaceful protest turned into a riot by those influencing these violent actions with money?

Something we have to consider is that these paid protestors, that are being paid to incite violence(and verifiably so), could be, and likely are part of a larger plan at play that just happens to currently align with the desire to make the Trump protests appear violent. That plan is to simply demonize the idea of protesting and frame it continuously in a light of violence and destruction, until over time, that becomes the average American’s perception of protesting. This allows those seeking an excuse the justification to pass laws and restrictions on the rights of Americans, that will begin with protests, but end with the Constitution.

As the nation is only days into this new presidential reign, it remains to be seen whether Donald Trump is the man many believe him to be, the man through which so many Americans rediscovered their political "faith," or if he is just simply 'the new boss, same as the old boss,' with a slightly different haircut. Regardless of one's previous stance on Donald Trump, it is paramount that every individual make the conscious choice to address each future move by the President with an open mind and judge each step by its merit and intent, and not to simply follow in line with your party stance without consideration.

Far too many have taken to ignoring Trump's recent statements or his attempts to correct a previous wrong, while instead fixating on past incidents, many of which were a manipulation of the truth to begin with. While one should not forget about his past, or anyone's for that matter, to not even entertain the possibility that change is happening, or could happen, is willfully confrontational and counterproductive.

The same can be said about those choosing to ignore all the many negative facets of Donald Trump, as well as the increasingly bad cabinet choices, and the wrong directional steps for the nation. Seemingly due in large part to the desire to take a position diametrically opposed to one's opponent, many Trump supporters are choosing to ignore any missteps or bad decisions, meeting each with the justification and rationalization needed to explain away anything that could possibly be seen as a "bad choice." 

Both of these willfully blind positions are equally damaging potential growth and the rediscovery of what this nation might have once been, and most certainly could be, if this massive awakening is allowed to progress, and truth is allowed to find its way into the light.
