SUMMARY OF TALK
Effective science-based conservation priorities and policies are crucially important to effectively maintain biodiversity into the future. Yet, research and conservation interventions are disproportionately focused on taxa perceived as charismatic, while other species are often neglected like bats and their habitats. Developing relevant and achievable priorities at the national level is a crucial step for effective conservation but are often challenged by limited capacity and resources. Here, using various scalable approaches and novel tools, he discussed important progress and significant bat conservation priorities in the Philippines and insights from the global scale.
