More about the speaker:
Cédric Notredame has been a senior principal investigator at the Center for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Barcelona, since 2007. Cedric graduated in Genetics from Toulouse University (UPS) and was awarded an EMBL grant in 1992 for a PhD in Bioinformatics that he completed in 1998 at EMBL-EBI (Cambridge, UK) under the supervision of Des Higgins. He then did a first post-doc in Lausanne at ISREC - at the time the SIB was being created. In 2001 Cedric became a CNRS Fellow. His main interests lie in the development of novel algorithms for the multiple comparison of evolutionarily related sequences. He is the leading author of T-Coffee (www.tcoffee.org), a popular multiple sequence alignment packages. More recently Cedric’s group developed an interest for computational reproducibility that led to Nextflow (www.nextflow.io). Cedric is also well known for having co-authored with Jean-Michel Claverie the book “bioinformatics for Dummies” (50.000 copies world-wide). Over the last 30 years, Cedric has contributed more than 100 publications in peer review journals that have received close to 40,000 citations. His latest challenge has been the launching of NAR Genomics and Bioinformatics (https://academic.oup.com/nargab), a sister title
of Nucleic Acids Research with a strong focus on in-silico reproducibility.
