Keith writes: "I have followed your research for quite a while now and also studied Geology; as a result I wanted to make some comments regarding your reference to seismic and volcanic activity. My understanding is that both of these events are due to tectonic plate action, with possibly the exception of hot spots, is Yellowstone, Hawaii and others. Volcanism is generally associated with subduction zones, or locations where the oceanic plate is going under a continental plate, and melting occurs creating rising magma and volcanism. Seismic activity is associated with pressures building between plates, or along fault lines, that eventually overcomes the friction and movement occurs."

Let us use the recent 7.6 Chile Quake Event (USGS) for an example: According to your statement above that is indeed accurate in a general sense for most of the earthquake activity over the last 100 years, this massive earthquake event should have been preceded by a series of fore-shocks leading up to the actual event and especially for such a large quake event at just 35 kilometers below the surface. Agreed? The problem is that this big quake struck with no precursor/fore-shock quake events at all, because the trigger mechanism has nothing to do with slip-style tectonic plate movement (lateral or vertical). This quake event was caused by sudden magma uplifting from deep inside of the Earth associated with the deep magma plume activity and the passing of magma pressures within the magma plume corridor created within the buoyancy barriers causing the massive horn formation to rise suddenly. The area along the fault contained stored-up energy that was ready to be released and just waiting for the right triggering event to come along that originated deep inside the changing subterranean environment where magma pressures originating deep inside Earth mantle transition zone are having more of an influence on the existing seismic/tectonic/volcanic dynamic that now includes shifting southern ice sheets in Antarctica (story)….
