Iran nuclear deal parties stand by accord despite U.S. withdrawal

The remaining parties in the Iran nuclear deal Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia have decided to save the 2015 deal, despite President Trump pulling the U.S. out more than two years ago.
Meeting in Austria on Tuesday, an EU representative said the participants are united in preserving the deal, and to ensuring its full implementation despite challenges.
The deal promises Iran economic sanctions relief in exchange for curbs on its nuclear program.
The U.S. pulled out of the deal in May 2018, and re-imposed sanctions on Iran.
Tehran has been stepping up its nuclear activities since then, and the U.S. just last month pushed to restore UN sanctions on Iran.
The Chinese representative at the meeting slammed the U.S. bid to restore UN sanctions.
"Delegations also compared notes and coordinated on the further steps looking forward, how to deal with the US attempts to abuse the snapback mechanism and also to try to sabotage and or even kill the JCPOA."
Ahead of the meeting, the Iranian representative had said the U.S. move would "definitely be an important discussion topic" at the meeting.
