Krasnoyarsk 2019 Winter Universiade declared open by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

KRASNOYARSK, RUSSIAN FEDERATION – As the 29th Winter Universiade was officially declared open at 20:19 on 2 March, the city of Krasnoyarsk in the heart of Siberia welcomed the world into a white winter fairy tale. The temperatures outside may not have been as low as the host city may have expected, but inside the Platinum Ice Arena everything glimmered like a precious snowflake. In a theatrical production that was artistic, whimsical and grand at the same time, the spectators were taken on a journey from real winter to ancient shamans, tracing the rich culture and history of the region.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin declared the 29th Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019 officially open by welcoming everyone to Russia.

he world’s premier multi-winter-sports event for university athletes, the Winter Universiade, continues till 12 March. More than 1700 of the world’s best university student-athletes are competing through 11 days in 11 sports: Alpine Skiing, Bandy, Biathlon, Cross-Country Skiing, Curling, Figure Skating, Freestyle Skiing, Ice Hockey, Short Track Speed Skating, Ski Orienteering and Snowboard.
