SciDev 2021 Hackathon Launch Event

SciDev.Net in collaboration with Wellcome is organizing a virtual hackathon event to undertake fast-paced, collaborative analysis of datasets published by Wellcome, GALLUP, and other sources. The hackathon will include the latest data from the Wellcome Global Monitor – the world’s largest study into how people around the world think and feel about science and major health challenges.

During the two-week event, hackathon participants will undertake an intensive analysis of the data, uncovering novel insights from a local or regional perspective in Africa and stimulating future research ideas.

The hackathon, funded by Wellcome and hosted by SciDev.Net, will run from 1 December to 17 December 2021, with a formal launch event scheduled for 1 December 2021 (13:00 – 14:30 UK time; 16:00– 17:30 Kenyan time). Participants will then work collaboratively in pre-assigned groups, and receive support from a dedicated facilitator.

The groups will present their results during a first session of the virtual closing event on 17 December 2021. Prizes and certificates will be presented during a second session, once judging is complete.
